Abercrombie&Fitch very Shaunie ONeal
VH1sBasketball Wiveshas dominated the small screen, with over two million viewers each week tuning in to catch the juicy drama amongst the NBA ladies. The reason this show is such a hit? Everyone wants to know the ins and outs of being romantically linked to a professional athlete. Not to mention that anytime you put a group of women with dominant personalities together, it&8217;s sure to be a show that keeps you on the edge of your seat!
Abercrombie&Fitch very Shaunie ONeal,Shaunie ONeal, ex-wife of retired basketball legendShaquille ONeal, is one of the ring leaders on the show and maintains (or tries to anyway) order amongst the wild and crazy ladies. Shaunie not only stars on the show, but she is the executive producer as well. The wonder woman talked withCelebuzzand gave us some juicy details on success, motherhood, television production and a burgeoning shion business.
What does it take to get a show up and running, what goes into the process of executive producing a show?
Well, luckily for me it was a little bit easier. I had a couple friends that were in the production business, and I just kind of threw [the idea for the show] around, and they all gave me great feedback. Once I got serious and focused [on producing the show], it went really st. I pitched it, they were really excited about it and they were moving ahead ster then I was even ready to move ahead.
How did you get the idea? Did you want people to see the lifestyle that these woman live being married to an NBA player?
I didnt come up with the concept to make people choose [this lifestyle] , or make them think &8216;oh gosh what a wonderful thing&8217; or &8216;what a bad thing.&8217; I got asked many questions, so it was more of me seeing the curiosity from other people, and me taking that and saying, &8216;well I guess people care!&8217;
How is working with the girls, do you see them everyday?
We see each other almost everyday. I might not see Evelyn and then the next three days I see her everyday, but when were filming we see each other quite often, several times a week. It&8217;s cool because I get along with everybody, and if I just dont gel with someone, or dont feel that connection, Im very honest and very blunt with the production team, and Im like, &8216;you know what I just dont even want to film with that person, its not gonna work, and Im not comfortable,&8217; and thats that.
Who are you closest with on the show?
Probably Evelyn [Lozada]. Ive known her for the longest.
You seem like the leader and you bring everyone together. It must get difficult to keep your cool, when the women go back and forth constantly on the show. How do you maintain that role?
It just comes kind of naturally because thats my personality, thats me. Any of the other girls can tell you, Im very drama free, and I try to keep all the madness away.
How is it having your life out there on television?
The difficult part is that people are constantly judging you, and thinking they know every part[of you] and how you feel about certain comments you make and what youre saying, and manipulating your words. Thats difficult but I have some pretty thick skin. I think this has just made it even thicker, and Im comfortable with me. Im very secure with me, I know the type of person I am and what I mean when I say it. None of us are perfect and Im damn sure not claiming to be, and I do make mistakes and I do do things that I wish that I could maybe take back and re-do. For the most part, Im very comfortable with myself, and I know who I am. And my kids and mily and the people who love and know me, know who I am. So I would have to say thats the difficult part, people judging you and manipulating your position and your words and trying to make it into something it&8217;s not.
Do you and Shaq still maintain a good relationship?
Were okay. Since the divorce, it&8217;s been more traumatic for the kids. They dont get to see him or talk to him very much, like I wish they could. But I double up and I do what I have to do.
Now that hes retired do they get to see him anymore?
No thats the [unfortunate] part. Thats what I thought would have happened, but it&8217;s not quite happening that way, so that parts a little disappointing. I can only do my part, and do it well.
You are very into shion; tell us more about your shoe line.
Well, its actually my picks for Chinese Laundry. I have seven shoes in this collection that I chose out of theChinese Laundryplethora of shoes, and they let me pick the shoes to put out. Im a shoe natic! Hopefully my line will be completely done and finished and I&8217;ll be able to do that [with the help] of Chinese Laundry.
What look are you going for?
I would say what I have is the red carpet at an affordable rate. Some flat boots that are over the knee, that [can be worn] going to dinner or going to the mall, [a boot]that covers a little bit of everything. I have like a working pump, a going-out to a club heel that I actually wore to the a little party we had for the line. [Theres also] a booty. [The line] covers a whole range of looks.
With the show skyrocketing, you have your mily life, your show and your shoe line. How do you keep up with your mily life, and balance all your other ventures?
It definitely gets a little jumbled, and it can get difficult at times. Thank God for my mily, theyre here in LA with me, so they definitely help me out because I can&8217;t be too many places at one time. But it all seems to flow. I just try to stay organized, as much as I can, is probably the answer to that. I have a calendar in my Blackberry, a calendar at home, a calendar everywhere. Thats life for me, a calendar! It&8217;s busy but it works!
You have reached a point of success that others strive for. What is some advice for women who are trying to be successful?
Never let go of your dreams. If it&8217;s something you believe in, stand by it and see it through, and definitely continue to believe in yourself no matter what anyone else is saying to you. No matter what youve gone through or are going through, just remember that it can be done. You look at somebody elses success story and you know that you can do it, so just constantly remember your worth, you can be strong. You can withstand whatever life brings, just follow your goals and dreams and stay true to that.

She one of those people that use to get poped back in the day because they try to play both sides and looked at as innocent but the people around you know that she is not that.
JulesShaunie just because you don&8217;t get in the middle of the mess, doesn&8217;t mean you aren&8217;t just as much to blame for much of it. You are not a true friend, because if you were you wouldn&8217;t have even invited Meeka to Rome. You are not a good friend to anyone, and I would have to say that you could be ranked up there in keness with Evelyn and Jen. Fake es stick together, and that&8217;s why Tami and Royce don&8217;t really mess with you all. Tami and Royce seem to be the most real. Susie, you need to learn to keep your mouth shut because you start more drama than anyone. No wonder no one trusts you, and they only keep you around to see who you are going to gossip to next.
AYBI honestly don&8217;t understand why she thinks that classy= the trashy women on this show. Tami is a alcoholic 45 year old utter gutter rat, who tries her best come across to everyone as &8220;real&8221; so that she can be &8220;in the circle&8221;. LMAO!! Suzy is the instigator who talks too much. Evelyn is the whorish, ghetto gold digger that Tami wants to emulate. These grown women remind me of middle school mean girls.
Shaunie is the crypt keeper, who pretends to be the peacekeeper. If there was no drama, this self-proclaimed &8220;classy&8221; chick wouldn&8217;t get a paycheck&8230;.because no one would watch this trash. She constantly throws a rock, then hides her hand. She is a disgrace to &8220;REAL&8221; African American women.
Me and my girlfriends CRINGE when we hear about the antics of this show. I thought that The Real Housewives of Atlanta was bad. This show is worse. Hell, Basketball Wives makes RHOA and Nene&8217;s loud mouth come across as classy, and that&8217;s saying a mouthful.
VictoriaShaunie is the gasoline for a lot of the rifts on the show. She is not at all inocent.
She plays a good role. She never trys to defuse anything. They all act like a bunch of &8220;mean girls&8221; from high school looking for prom dates.
RellThe women on &8220;Mob Wives&8221; and &8220;Basketball Wives&8221; are the same type of smut TV. Both shows really show women in a bad light. The only difference is that the women on &8220;Mob Wives&8221; don&8217;t perpetrate or try to convince themselves or the audience of how classy they are. Michon Walkertami needs to grow the hell up! Meeka did not lie about the ke n phony n all the girls will see that when they see the show or whatever, and for tami to say she had to protect herself bc meeka put her hands up like she was bout to do somethin, is WACK!! that girl didnt do nething but for once speak the truth!! No wonder her X Husband left her ghetto ass and she ended up on Food Stamps. Tammi you such a bad but you didnt have enough game to stay off of Welre?? TamokaI&8217;m very surprised that all of you are taking this show so seriously, it&8217;s purely for entertainment ladies. No reality show would make it without the excess drama. And I&8217;m sure that Shaunie, and none of these other women care about what you think of them, cause you&8217;re watching their show, and they&8217;re getting paid and lauging at y&8217;all all the way to the bank (ha ha). It&8217;s a show, get over it. Yes, they all come off as shady, old, washed up, drama-filled or whatever you want to call them, but it must be interesting to every single one of you because y&8217;all watch the show. Noone knows these women personally to pass any judgement on them.
